I was originally looking to move from my 2nd Gen Explorer to a 3rd Gen Explorer. I searched for over a month and just couldn't find a decent one for the kind of money I wanted to spend. To make a long story short, I bought a 2000 Mustang GT today for WAY less than I expected. I'll get some pics up tomorrow. Its one of my least favorite colors (green), but at $5000 for a 2000 GT with 65k miles, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Throw some black stripes and wheels on it and the green won't be that bad.

Unfortunately, the guy that had it before me decided to put a gray BOSS stripe on it. I've already thought about masking the stripe off and painting it semi-gloss or maybe flat black and painting over the BOSS words as well, but I'm betting I'll have to really lay on the coats to cover the letters sufficiently... I wonder how hard they would be to remove. Hmm...

Anyway, I'll get some pics today.

I know this is a Ford forum and we all pretty much love FoMoCo. It goes without saying that we would take a Mustang over a Camaro. Having owned a '95 Z28, I would have to say that the Mustang would absolutely eat it alive... no contest.

Decals come off pretty easy. Your stang is so new that they should pull right off. Get a hairdryer and heat them up as you slowly pull them off. Also a good idea to have some adhesive remover handy just incase....or WD-40.

I always shave all of the badges and moldings off of every vehicle I get, but these look different. The pieces on the hood are cracked throughout and it does seem like it's made of the same vinyl that pinstripes are. I'm a little concerned that it'll leave some nastiness behind. I might try a small section thats difficult to see first if I decide to go that route.

Scroll down to where it says vinyl and decal remover...I have used these wheels and they are awsome. Won't mess up the paint as long as you don't stay in one place forever. They feel like erasures but work really well for tough decals. You can pick them up at a paint supply store.

I'll check into it. Meanwhile, here are some pics. Its due for some new tips... these ones have a few rust spots. Aside from that, it has one 99-00 chrome headlight and one 01+ black headlight. I'll probably just buy headlight and taillight covers. The exhaust sounds great... has Magnaflows.

For a short-term to-do list, I have the following:

Headlight Covers
Taillight Covers
Exhaust tips
Tint
Something with the stripe
Possibly wheels

Here are some of my Photoshopped ideas. If I order a cowl induction hood, I'll probably go with no stripe at all. If I keep the stock hood, I'm worried about paint damage if I try to remove the vinyl... its pretty cracked. Anyway, here are the shops:

You should probably take that huge chevy logo off the back of it first!! At least with those stripes on it I will be more likely to pull you over if you roll through Motown.

"Sir, you were doing 74 in a 15.....but its ok cause you are an EF member"

Well, I've owned the Stang for less than a week and I've already washed and waxed it twice. Today, I used Meguiar's NXT 2.0. I also Photoshopped the pictures BEFORE I resized them, so they were much easier to work with. I've decided to remove the stripe and get a cowl induction hood. The side view shows a cowl induction hood, but I'm not talented enough to Photoshop the front view with one, lol.

Nice Stang...welcome to the herd!!:D

I'd suggest adding a Mach 1 chin spoiler to it. Really makes the front look nice. Here's a picture with one installed:

As far as wheels check out http://www.wheelreplicas.com/ . They also sell on ebay. They are part of our Mach1 owners club, have a great product and stand behind what they sell. I put a set of silver FR500's on my Mach.

Thanks!

I've already discovered WheelReplics. I have a staggered set of black '03 Cobra wheels on my list. http://wheelreplica.com/03Cobra.html I've also found that AmericanMuscle has some great deals on wheels.

Tell me, are there any Mustang forums that are as good as our beloved Explorer forum? I've joined one so far and bookmarked a couple others.

The Mach 1 Registry is a good forum, but it's generally Mach 1 specific.

i want a stang ...... really nice' the green looks good with black rims

I was fairly productive today. I changed the plugs and serpentine belt, as well as installed a shorty antenna, grille delete, headlights, and also tinted my tails and 3rd brake light. Here are the results. I'm unsure about whether I want to install the Mustang back into the grille. This might be a job for Jon and some black chrome powder coat!

Was that rear bumper cover repainted? That light reflection looks awfully orange-peeled for some reason...

Nice work so far- and I agree with you- Whoever put those Boss stickers on there needs to be hit in the head with a tack hammer. :D

Im pretty partial to Green so I have to say I like it minus the Boss stripes--the dude must have really like Bruce Springstein...... Out of all the photochop pics, the all Green looks the best, like that chin spoiler in the other pic also but I think the trophy on the hood could fall off around turns. Glad you took of the Cheby logo off, a tack hammer for the dealer as well! Any way you could paint over the grey mustang letters with black may look good as well. Staggered black wheels will look fantastic! Great buy.

Joe, I think that might just be a weird reflection trick with dust and pollen.

GRNMACHINE, I'm one step ahead of you. I've already priced the black inserts for the MUSTANG on the bumper. They're surprisingly affordable at less than $20 shipped. The gray ones are stickers as well, so they'll be easy to remove.
