that stap was iffy.did it break or just fall off?

Nice!

I have to go DEEP into the woods to find places like that. Looks like an interesting hole.

And... that's why we don't use chains... :salute:

It shredded in half.

YES, that's why we DONT use chain, hooks or anything that has metal on it!!:D
Hooks equal lost $$$, lost time, pain, dents in tailgates!:thumbdwn:

Lucky you didn't hydrolock it, too

yeah, that would suck.

I did fry the clutch.

Looks like some good mud there. ^_^ I'll have to take my camera next time we hit up the ponds. There's not been a lot of mud lately (all of the big trucks are hibernating) but, It's the ponds. There's always water somewhere. It's just gotten sucky since all the dirt bikes and atv's started showing up. Our free reign is limited to the two big mud holes, and the crawler pit. Anywhere else and we have to watch out for those buzzing little pests on two wheels.

thats when you need a winch ;)

This is my first time getting stuck in the X, as I went in all the gas in the tank ran foward and stalled the engine  so I couldnt back out. I didnt realize how deep the ruts went just look at my back tire compared to the front. If I had of continued further I would have had water in the interior for sure but I did get the air filter soaked with water. These are the only two pics I have sorry for the quality(cell phone).

"That's when you need a winch!"

Ya, my bro was just given an 8klb winch, but we haven't figured out how to mount it to his wrangler!

Since I got stuck today, I figured it was time to post a picture in here. This is the first time I have gotten it stuck enough to need a tow. Every other time I've been able to work my way out.

Most of my explorer is in..a hole..so to speak.. Who says explorers roll over easy?

I bought a 8k smittybilt about 3 weeks ago finally, Except for pulling my truck up the driveway I have yet to really test it.

yeah... I've got a smittybilt on my truck, a little beefed-up for a 12k lbs winch... has worked for me for the past 8 years pulling me out many times.

I didnt know they made winches back then, but yea I havent heard too many bad things about there new line of winches and for the price it was a steal.
Where did you get stuck at, that looks like some nasty stuff. Its kinda looks the same way I got stuck.:p: and yes thats a lake on my right side

It was at the Badlands in Attica, Indiana... Superlift Run.

Set-up was simple - need a winch bumper and a little lift - anything would do. There was and still is really very little aftermarket support for the Explorer Off-road type.
