worth it to rebuild my '06 transmission?

The transmission on my '06 Explorer just went out. Ford dealer says clutch in the transmission has failed, $3900.00 to rebuild it. The car has 136,000 miles and until now has run just fine. So, should I rebuild the transmission or look for a new ride? Any advice would be appreciated.

Find a local transmission shop, with a good reputation. (every town has at least one) I doubt it would cost that much to repair it.

I know I will probably rebuilt mine when the time comes. I just can't see a new car payment for the next 5 years. Tranny - I can pay it off in 6 months

If you go with rebuilding it yourself, you gain a lot of knowledge about the vehicle and the innerworkings of the xmsn, which is well work the time, money, and effort put into it. Plus the satisfaction of actually doing it and the vehicle drives afterwards...........
