Yarnell, AZ fire. 19 fire fighters dead

We can smell and see the smoke at our house, and we live probably 40 miles away

Reports are saying that they expect most of the town to burn. Char's teacher's aid is a Hotshot who regularly fights fires in the area. Our thoughts are with him and his unit. We're hoping he's in New Mexico already, as that's where he said they were sending him last time Char spoke to him. She just didn't know how soon he was leaving.

Wow... Char is on the phone with him right now. He's in New Mexico. He knew all the guys in the unit that was involved

Here's a time lapse video from the fire. The wind is blowing from the left to right, then shifts towards the camera. You can see the ridge line burst into flames as the wind changed directions

..I just saw on another Forum a firefighter from AZ. had got called out on a fire and wouldn't be back for 2 weeks...

..Hopefully it is not him or any of our Members who were caught in this..

..It is so sad that anyone was caught in this fire...Texas just lost number of Firefighters the beginning of the month..

I just heard the number is now 19. It's just crazy what's happening in the USA right now. Back East, they are enduring heavy rain, tornado's, and floods. Here in the West we have had no precipitation for almost 3 months with temperatures over 100 degrees. Look at Colorado, and here in Cali we've had our share of fires. My condolences go out to all those who have lost family, friends, and property.

..His name is JohnnyS on EP and after going thru his post he mentioned being called to New Mexico's fires but he just got back yesterday...

..3 of the fallen FireFighters were from SoCal and reading up on them this evening is truly sad..
