    Strut spacers

Actual lift height ends up being about 1.5x the actual spacer height. So divide your desired lift height by 1.5 and that will give you the size spacers you need

Swing out tire carrier for 4th gen?

Fair enough. My first welding machine and welding practice was with a Harbor Freight 90 amp wirefeed welder. Lots of trial and error till I had some formal training, lol. If you are serious about learning you might look and see if any community colleges in your area have welding classes...

Swing out tire carrier for 4th gen?

Sounds like a good reason to learn how to weld :).

Swing out tire carrier for 4th gen?

That sounds like it would work well. Post updates if you decide to go forward, this sounds pretty cool!

Swing out tire carrier for 4th gen?

Easiest solutions to this are either to put your spare in the cargo area and ratchet strap it down (either on its side or vertically), or get a roof basket and put it up there. edit: I see you already have a roof rack so probably already do something like this. For a swing out you might be...

    Spartan Locker

Physically it might. I believe the instruction manual on the manufacturer's website says it is not for limited slip carriers though. I think that Powertrax made a model of their No-Slip (similar to the Spartan) that was designed for those with limited slip carriers.

body lift for 07 Sport Trac?

The existing bolts on the 4th gen are a larger size than the 3rd gen, and getting the right length, diameter, and bolt grade to be a direct fit for all of them was too expensive. So I went with a slightly smaller diameter and used nuts and washers underneath to secure them (on the underside of...

4th Gen - Extended Upper Control Arms with Uni-ball joint

I only used 1 washer on each side of mine, but I don't remember the hole diameter or washer thickness. it wasn't anything crazy on mine....just one washer on each side. In your case just do some searching around at the hardware store until you find a combo that will stack up to be the right...

4th Gen - Extended Upper Control Arms with Uni-ball joint

Yeah the washers should go beween the inside of the BTF arms and the strut tower where they mount to. How much space are you seeing? The quicklifts will be taller than the stock shocks at full extension because they have more overall travel than the stock ones. You can see this by looking at...

    6r60 to 6r80?

I had the impression the 6R80 was just a beefed up 6R60. I wonder if the difference is just the torque converter and/or some of the other parts inside. If that's really the case then maybe a "performance rebuild" of the 6R60 would be the only thing needed to get the upgrade.

How to: 3rd Gen Aussie Locker Install

I never had issues when I had it in my last truck but then again it wasn't like I put 50k on it either (truck got totaled in an accident and wasn't able to remove it from the truck to inspect it). I found it was a pretty predictable setup in terms of how it acted. Clicking was definitely...

Setina push bar for 2010 XLT?

Looking at their site I get the impression that they design the pushbar to fit whatever make/model it's going on as well as supply whatever brackets and hardware are needed. I'm sure if you call them they could give you a solid answer and provide a part number if they make one for your application.

    08 Explorer front end grinding

You can check the fluid level in the diff, could be a U joint like Tech by Trade said. Diff damage from the different tire sizes isn't likely....I wonder if it's the stability control kicking in at low speeds due to the tire mismatch. See if swapping back to the wheel with the 235 tire helps.

    410 gears in an AWD?

4.10 gears will definitely fit in the differential housings on 2002-2010 IRS/IFS equipped explorers. There isn't a difference between AWD and 4WD front differentials, and the rear differentials are the same (except whatever gear ratio came from the factory) regardless of AWD, 4WD, and 2WD. As...

    Extended control arms....

Longer lower control arms aren't needed. Longer upper control arms with a uniball joint (like the ones made by BTF) are highly highly recommended. Yes, you can align the suspension with the stock ones. The length isn't really the issue...it's the fact that the upper ball joint tends to fail...

2002-2005 FAQ regarding lifts, tires, etc

If all you want is 265's on stock wheels then you'll do fine with either a 1.5" or 3" body lift, and anywhere between 1.5-2" front / and 1.25-1.5" rear spacers. Doing both body lift and spacers isn't necessary for 265s. Keep in mind that the spacers will give you about 1.5 x the lift as the...

    differential lowering or longer axles

Right on....I get where you're coming from and can totally respect that. As long as you can reinforce the frame enough once you cut the bottoms out of the frame holes I'm sure it'll work out fine. Looking forward to updates

    differential lowering or longer axles

#1 : I guess removing the btf spacers is out of the question? #2 : You could have the spacers modified so they are maybe 1/2 as tall...sure you'll lose lift but that could reduce the extreme angles you are getting as the suspension cycles. #3 : Lastly you might try installing limiting...

Is there a kit for a small (1-1.5") body lift?

I run 265/70/17 Mickey Thompson Baja STZs. They are quiet on the road and have performed well off road and in bad weather. I think that size it's a pretty good compromise between lift/width and doesn't slow the truck down too much. If you have 16" wheels you could run 265/75/16.
