Body Work & Detailing

Waxing washing, wheel cleaning and body work. This is the place to discuss those topics.
I've debated on my medium for painting my super rusty explorer all winter and I'm reaching out for opinions. I've posted before about how to properly handle the rust (Tackling Runaway Roof Rust!) and I've decided to strip down the whole rig, windows, rub rails, and lights, the whole thing. Sand the worst spots to bare metal and scuff up everything else with my dual action pneumatic sander. Treat with POR15, then primer and paint. The real question is: Do I use a bed liner product for the job or just automotive paint. I've looked around and found the main argument against this is: Fading, hard to clean, and the overall weight it adds to your vehicle. It looks like most of those problems have been solved with the newer lines of Raptor...
Hi everyone! I do not have the BLIS system just the small mirror on the outside mirrors. I am finding that every time it rains, the rain beads up on the mirror and especially the small mirror to the point where you cannot identify anyone in your blind spot. I am not sure if it the angle of the mirror or what but I am wondering if a product like rainx would keep the rain off of the mirror? Or if there is something else I could try.... thoughts? Thanks
Our 2016 Ford Explorer is experiencing paint being rubbed off/worn off by the door seals on both rear doors in the door jamb area. Wondering how many others have experienced this and if you have contacted Ford about this? I didn't get a very good response from them after the pictures were submitted. They said "we don't cover chips and scratches" and this is clearly wear from the door seal.
Like many people, I had to do this project in my driveway with some basic tools. I have about $300 in the whole project, not including the tools. I bought full panels at $125 each on amazon. I have another $50 in paint, primer, rustproofing, undercoating (all aerosol spray cans). You can use something like duplicolor to match your paint color, but I chose to use a 2K epoxy aero primer with black chassis paint. It actually looks pretty good with the black plastic trim and its hard as nails. Hey everyone, looking for a little advice on some paint correction work on my 2017 Shadow Black platinum. I did original paint correction after I purchased for some minor defects, and it was in decent shape. Unfortunately, after asking repeatedly for it not to happen, the dealership ran it through their automated wash after some warranty work and my 9k mile Explorer looks awful (in my eyes). I have minor swirls through most of the paint and need to get them out. Long story to get to my question: I currently have the entire V Line for polish and compound (V32, V34, V36, and V38) with a 7424XP DA. I plan on picking up a few more products such as Black Light and V7 to finish off the job once completed, however for initial paint...
I made this thread to contribute to this community.First off I want nothing from this. Just offering over 20 years experience in the show car field. Here I will answer any questions on Rinseless washing, Waterless washing, andTwo bucket method. I can also share on polishing (my specialty) . I will also talk about interior cleaning and chemicals. Then ceramic or other coatings. Understand I will not accept work from this site. I am an owner and want to share, this all will be how to do it right for free. So ask away.
Heyyo so I went to pick n pull a few weeks back and i found a 97 mercury mountaineer and picked off a spoiler and the rear molding. I got home and realized that I had to remove my emblems. And well I did, I just used some heavy duty dbl sided tape to tape on the emblems and the molding and then removed the emblems off of my car carefully,I aligned it and taped it and voila, to remove the part that said “mountaineer v8 mercury “ I just polished it off and it came off not harm done! I cut the little pokes off the back of the explorerand the ford emblem and taped them on and they ain’t going no where here are some pics, I love it Here the rig too Side note : I aligned the emblems buy putting them up the old emblems on the car, so the...
