Offroad Projects

Big projects... Lifts, Swaps, etc... IMPORTANT As the subject use your name, or the name of your truck, and the name of the project. Such as Superlift 5.5" installation, Dana 44 conversion, etc.

Solid Axle Swap Registry

If you have completed a solid axle swap on your Explorer and would like to share the results with others this is the place to do it:D This isn't the place to talk about a work in progress, rather a place for the FINAL results, specs, instructions etc

well I've finally bit the bullet: Curtis' 3-link SAS I'll be picking up my D30 from a TJ with 4.10s (to match the 4.10 i already have) plus, its 50% day at the JY :D i will be making my own custom three link, using ballistic joints on the frame side & Rustys superflex joints at the axle, lower links are 1.5" DOM .120 wall sleeved with 2" DOM .250 Wall. Third link is 1.5" DOM .120 wall with a Creeper joint at the frame and stock jk end on the axle. Ill also be using an adjustable track bar from an XJ that im getting for free, the coil buckets are from ballistic and the shock towers are f250 ones. The steering box will be from an ifs Toyota with a trailgear pitman arm, the return line is stock while the stock pressure line was...
Heres the deal i want to do a sas on my 99 explorer soon real soon, ill admit i dont have the knolage or tools to accomplish this. But I will pay someone to do this on my truck. Just tell me what to get and work magic. Everyone has there own price and im not going to say well only for this much. I want this done so SOMEBODY TAKE MY MONEY AND MAKE ME EXPO A BIG ASS EXPO. I wont have this turn into a bidding war anyone who wants to do this the sonner and is serious about doing it., you got it. :exp: :exp: :exp: :exp: :exp: :exp: :exp: :exp:
Allright so my 96 5.0 daily driver sags a bit in the back, well okay ALOT So I ordered a set of the Warrior 153 shackles and they arrived today. I was looking at the Ex last night and with my Draw Tite tube style hitch the factory shackles come awfully damn close to hitting the hitch and mounting brackets. Will the warriors be smacking into this sucker? I am putting them on anyways but was curious if they clear. I have searched on this board and seen a few trucks with pictures where I can see the hitch and the warriors, but I have not seen one with my same hitch nor did I see anyone say they hit. Thanks!
i found a motor that a guy in florida is selling me and it's a 5.0 ho with AOD, and everything else needed (computer, oil pan, etc.) It came off of his 91 thunderbird. It has about 60,000 miles. Iwant to put it on my 92 4x4 explorer. Is the transmission going to work? I also now i need a new a transfer case, take off the ac or find one that will fit, new fan, new radiator, new driveshaft. Is their anything else i need. (im not sure but do i need to change the 4x4 trans too?) Maybe if you gusy could make a list of all the things that are needed that would extremely wonderful and helpful to everyone else. I know there are a lot of threads on this but if you guys could be cool about helping me out here i would love it. Thanks guys.
Decided to put a 3" body lift first and a soa on the rear. I dont want to mess with torsion twists thought. Gonna put some warrior shackles on the rear as well. Now for the front I was thinking of adding leafs to grab a little height. I would like to do a sas on the front but I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to trucks so if someone could be so great as to tell me what's not gonna work or how to make it work and the price on the sas I'd be very grateful! Also wanna sit it on 33's
