Okay, so this year my Exploder has really hit me in the wallet. I bought it a few years ago after a friend of a friend had a 2002 Exploder that he remanufactured the engine, and rebuilt then later replaced the transmission in it. I bought it mostly to be a backup vehicle/toy/project. This year started with minor repairs, cleaned the MAF, replaced the IAC, but the engine hasn’t leaked a drop of oil. Same with the transmission. The transfer case however decided to start to leak. So I took the opportunity to tear it apart and clean it up. I also replaced most of the suspension. New struts (I broke a coil.. oops) new ball joints in the front, tie rods, etc... also did breaks all around. I figured since I had it in the air I’d get...
Need to replace my hankooks, been doing a lot of research, basically to the point of detriment to myself...I’ve simply confused myself now. Looking for a good performance road tire, not off road..more all season. I was looking at the Michelin Premier LTX but I’m afraid the wife will flinch at the price. What else could anyone recommend?
About a year ago I took my 2017 XLT in to my local Ford dealership for an alignment fix, as the car was pulling to the right and the steering wheel had to be held slightly off-centre in order to drive straight down the road. When I picked up the car and saw the invoice, I learned that the dealer wasn't able to do alignments on-site (they didn't have the scanners, etc.), and used the Chrysler-Jeep dealership service across the street. Here's what the Ford invoice says, verbatim: STEERING WONDERS OR PULLS CHECK/REPAIR VEHICLE PULLING TO RIGHT CONCERN steering wheel off center, would require alignment to CORRECT; CHECKED ALL STEERING & SUSPENSION COMPONENTS PERFORMED ALIGNMENT & ADJUSTMENT AS PER CHRYSLER-JEEP TO CORRECT CONCERN ROAD...
I just scored a nice deal on a set of 5 BFG KM3s that someone may be interested in. 4WheelParts has them in a 7.50R16 size at a discount price (~$175, plus $25 off per tire, plus they pay tax) that I was able to get discount tire to price match at 5 for $875 out the door, with the $70 mfg rebate comes out to ~$160/tire installed including tax (so $805 for 5 out the door!). The 7.50R16 is a tall narrow tire. ~31.8” tall and ~8.7” wide on a 6.5” wide rim. Works on 16”x5.5” to 16”x7” rims. E rated. For reference, the more common 235/85R16 size is ~31.6” tall and 9.4” wide. Not sure when the 4WheelParts discount ends, so you may want to jump on it if you’re interested. Cheers!
Hi All I am new to this forum joined today. I have 16 limited explorer with 40k miles and need new tyres Costco have good deal going on with Michile $70 off and penny installation so I thought let's grab the opportunity to change hankook to Michelin I was planning to have defender ltx but they don't have in stock and they can't order it either. Premier ltx really have bad reviews on life and sales associates also mentioned same so decided not to go with premier ltx Only available option left is PRIMACY TOUR A/S. I am not finding any reviews about this tyre online so I am really confused on what I am getting. How's the quality, comfort, handling, noise etc. If any forum member have any idea and if they have used it can share...
Anyone have any experience with the Patagonia A/Ts from Milestar? Thinking about getting a set of 265/70R17 tread to replace the 245/65R17 Bridgestones that are on my '05 Eddie Bauer. (I'm assuming the 265/70 is still the biggest an Expo can use without a lift.) They've had good reviews on them and seem to be a pretty decent tire for the price ($94.00 each). Not looking to go rockclimbing or anything. Just a good all-around tire for less than $100 a piece. Thanks for the replies!
I just bought a 2018 Explorer Sport today and just joined this forum, so thanks to whoever is hosting it! Unfortunately I wasn't able to swing the Explorer I wanted with the wheels I also wanted. My Explorer has the 20" Machined Aluminum with Magnetic-Painted Pockets wheels (see pic). I really want one of the following: 1.) 20" Premium Tarnished Dark-Painted Aluminum 2.) 20" 10-Spoke Magnetic-Painted Aluminum (these wheels are from the XLT Sport Appearance package) Are there any issues with this swap? I'm guessing not as all wheels are 20x8.5". I searched the forums and haven't found the answer to this question...even looked at the pinned threads. Thanks again! -Bryan
Hey, i am planning to get new winter/summer tires, but i am bit worried about the ET and width. I'd like the rim to stay with in or flush with fenders, due to regulations around here *sigh*. I am planning to swap from 15" to 18" rims and trying to select tire/rim size that'd include as little problems as possible. I'd like the rims to "push" out a little since the OEM are kinda deep in there, purely for looks. Below rims/tires i'd swap to (235/75/15x7ET12 to 235/60/18x8ET0). Also rim style: Will these cause any problems when turning the wheel, rim center bore is 71.6mm?
I’ve made a little error and I’m wondering if it needs to be rectified. My 2017 Ex had 20” wheels with summer tires and I’ve ended up buying 245/60/18 tires to work with the 18” police interceptor steel wheels. The difference in diameter is -1.3%. Of course I’ve just realised that I should have bought 235/65/18 and the difference would have been 0%. Is it a big deal? I’m pretty annoyed at myself.....
Hi folks, I bought a set of winter wheels from someone who had them on a 2013 explorer but barely used them. I have a 2017 explorer and they don’t seem right. The bolt pattern is good but the clearance between the caliper and wheel seems very small. I know the offset is supposed to be ET44 but isn’t that the same between 2013 and 2017? The wheel code is as follows: 17x7.5J T DOT K4 32 07 25 11. Can anyone let me know if these are supposed to fit my vehicle properly? I’m not sure if it makes a difference but the wheels on it currently are the 20” wheels that came with the sport appearance package. Many thanks in advance.
