I don’t think the A4LD has a fourth gear. You are probably just missing overdrive.

The trans come out of an explorer I had about a year and a half ago he bought it from me for motor it shift fine in the explorer

No need to be sorry. . My first guess would be a wiring harness issue, or a shift solenoid problem.

I was thinking maybe modulator or governor for 1-3 but I'm not a transmission man
