MY trucks issues

exactly! I drive this thing 99% of the time.. even as an amateur I THINK I know better than he does what it does and what it doesn't do. and what it should do.

I would like a good shop here in augusta recommended lol, but unforuntaltey.. I've tried all the shops here, one of htem can't get any work done.. and make you wait for weeks for a simple test.. another is just flat out terriblre.. if you're not buying a new car.. they dont care about you.. then theres mine, which is actually a lincoln merc. dealer and really doesn't like the 5.0 or the older mountaineers in general.. they htink they can pressure me into buying something new by giving me flack.. well I can tell you whatr brand of vehicle it WONT be if this kind of attitude continues from all of the ford dealers here.

I took the truck to two different dealerships (Lakewood Fordland & Freeway Ford), this is how I received two different techs, but the same conclusion. I didn't take the truck back to the same dealer the second time.

I'm a die hard Ford fan and have never had a problem like this prior. So I'll continue to purchase Ford products, I just wish I could figure out this problem. I've owned an 81 F150, 85 Ranger and a 99 Ranger, but these were all manual not automatic. None of these prior Fords ever had a problem like this. None of these were V8's either.

I haven't been pressured into buying a new Ford, but think about it often since this problem came about.

question.. for all of ya. just.. out of curiosity

when my truck reaches the top of a gear.. even when its not being an @ss it makes a high pitched noise that curves and goes away as gears shift .........rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRIW :p to try to put it into text lol does everyones 4R70W do this? its very quiet.. but the radio sucks so bad here that its muted quite a lot and I always hear this noise as my tranny shifts..

I figured I'd list anything I possiblly could ot find a similartiry in components between my truck and v8's cos it sounds like whatever it is.. is the same part.

btw v8 are you on your 1st or 2nd 4R70W?

That sucks, our dealer "Holman Lincoln Mercury" is mad cool even about mods. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Ford Dealers for the most part suck, and Lincoln/Mercury are much better, of course yours is an oddball one though.

My friend with the 03' Cobra goes to our dealership cause his Ford won't touch the car b/c of the mods he has on it. Another friend from up north has Lightning with some mods also, again he goes to our dealership instead of the Fords who won't even look at his car.

Didn't you say you were a big guy, like 270lbs? If I was you and that beotch got in my face, I would have laid the smackdown on his azz. That guy doesn't know jack shiz about the car, and dissing on the 5.0, WTF is that about. The 5.0 is considered to be basically the most reliable, strongest and best small block made (with of course the Chevy 350), and the Explorer/Mounty 5.0 is the best of any generation of the engine, you need to beotch slap that guy for talking smack like that:D

ummm. hell no, our 97' never did that, and our 00' has never made a rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRIW noise, lol.

I'm fat lol ya thats about what I weigh.. this guy however.. has a gut as big as mine and is like 7' tall I wouldn't even consider such a thing lol

thats another excuse.. weight.. "all this **** you've done to it, it probablly weighs 5000 pounds, theres your performance problems right there, this thing isn't built for speed ya know"

ok well I'll try and tape that noise maybe.. after exams are over. may not be audible to a recording device tho

I would have to say, although I haven't heard a noise like that, it doesn't sound to good:p , trans' are not supposed to go rrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRIW:confused:

I have no Mods on my X except a K&N air filter, and has this problem. I'm not as big so intimidation is not an option for me.

My engine and exhaust tone has either gotten deeper or louder since the problem occured. I've noticed this since I have the stock exhaust. I've mentioned this to the techs, but they brush it to the side.

you know.. I did notice after having my flow50 catback for a bout a month.. my exhaust almost doubled in volume.. and when I got my kkm my exhaust got deeper.

I had a slight Xhaust leak not too long ago.. ford mentioned it to me as they were working on it once, routine checkup... when they fixed the hole the exhaust didn' really change in sound.

so v8 do you have that noise in your tranny? or do you not pay as much attention to your car as I do? my friends and family think I'm a nut cos of how close I listen to what my trucks doing.

hey! whats with the title change? Rick man.. you know if I had a job I'd pay for the elite!

If your truck is not in warranty, why on Earth would you take it to a "dealer"?

I wouldn'r hit a wild dawg in the arse with a dealer.....

it is under warranty.. ford "quality care" program.. covers major things like.. if my transmission has an alien burst out of its chest or something..

DarkFox1-I'm still on my first 4R70W. I do pay a lot of attention to the way my truck performs and sounds, but to say it makes that exact noise, I don't know. It does make a small noise like something like rubbing, and this is when I can feel vibrations through the accelerator and is usually towards the top of the gear.

I think both of us have transmission problems.. as I said, as soon as money and time allow.. this thing is going down to weeks transmission and ima see if they can't find anything.

if they find nothing.. money well spent still.. to eliminate that part of the drivetrain from the problem would be beneficial

My truck is not under warrenty (58K).

I first took my truck to two independent shops. The first stated the idle problem was the IAC & the lack of power or sluggishness was the FPR. I had both replaced, which did not fix anything. Second shop I went to was a Ford specialist in the area who could not find any problems. This is when I turned to Ford dealers. I needed to get the most recent recalibration for the PCM on my X, so I thought this may help. The first dealer I took it to didn't even recalibrate the PCM, but the second dealer did. It has slightly, but it still picks up speed like a dog most the time. Other times it feels almost, and I say almost back to the way it was.

my truck has dirven really nice once or twice in the past 2 years.. I've learned to accept it almost and prety much put any kind of NOMINAL acceleration as an eye popping experience  < like that guy..

v8 how rough is this idle of yours? my truck idles rough enough to feel it.. but thats about it.. the 99 5.0 that I testdrove idled so smooth the engine wasn't moving when it was running.. and mine.. does

I'm on my 2nd 4R70W.. 1st one died at 45k miles.. it was doing what mny truck is doing now.. only not nearly as bad.. I have 70,300 on the truck right now.

btw v8, when you accelerate, is it ever possible to stay beside or slightly pull ahead of the avg drivers around you? if so what kind of rpm does this take in 1st gear? and.. what kind of rpm do you usually need to getg up to speed in a nomial amount of time from a stop?

btw I also have recordings of my trucks engine noise from inside the cab, normal takeoff (a very slow one) and a 0-60

0-60
normal takeoff to about 35 or 40

Well it's hard to say without actually seeing your speedometer, also without knowing if you put the pedal down all the way from the start, but from the time I heard your engine accelerate until the recording ends is right at 10 seconds. Did you floor from the start or did you do a sort of rolling start before flooring it? Your exhaust sounds good though (miss the V8 sound). I didn't hear the noise you were talking about.

Thats what I counted, 10-11 seconds also, still way slower than a stock 5.0 though.

I heard something, does it occur in 1st gear Darkfox, in one of those links when you start out I could hear a very faint "whirring" sound before it changed gears, I had to have my speakers all the way up to hear it.

Just wonderin if your truck is 4x4. I listened too, and in the second clip as you accelerated in the begining I hear the same whir I hear in 4x4H... I just get it b/c the front and rear are going at SLIGHTLY diff speeds I think. Its a high pitched "vrrrr rruuurrr ruruuruurrr " that speeds up with speed and eventually dissappears yes?
