Sorry, but I have no advice to give, but wanted to let you know your thread wasn't being ignored :)

AH,
something I found in our new manual today :

USING MYKEY WITH REMOTE START SYSTEMS
MyKey is NOT compatible with non-Ford-approved aftermarket remote
start systems. If you choose to install a remote start system, please see
your Ford authorized dealer for a Ford-approved remote start system.

VIPER Security/Remote Start

Anyone have any insight on the VIPER security and or remote start system being installed on the newer Explorers? Mine is a 2015 and im thinking about adding the security/remote start system. I have heard mixed reviews from systems like these over the last several years and cannot make up my mind.

Viper is a well known brand, parent company DEI and Viper is generally their top of the line brand. I used Viper in the past and really liked them but moved to the OEM systems since the integration is usually more seamless and plug and play.

Basically boils down to what your looking for the system to do for you...which would be?

I have merged your thread with this existing one. Perhaps it may help and also get more input from members.

Pretty much just security such as glass break sensor and motion sensor and any other standard security. Remote start would be nice but not a must have. I can purchase the oem security system for the explorer?

The Ford Security System would be a shock sensor along with door, hood, tailgate (probably) opening. If you have the base model you would probably have to add the OEM hood switch and associated harness. Could go with the remote phone access system then as well and get text and email alerts about potential break ins.

OEM remote start is just something you need to get activated after putting in the hood switch and harness (base model only)...you have seen the remote start sticky I have?

I have the 2015 Base Model. I assume this would be what I am looking for?

I see its plug and play, is this something that I can do my self or should I have my dealer do it?

Yes, I saw the thread about the remote start but it has been a while since I read it. I forgot its something that just needs to be activated along with the hood switch and harness.

Hi Medic,

The VSS is plug and play and piggy backs the OBDII port. The nice thing about it is that you can add on Ford's cellular remote access later on if your interested. We sell the VSS here http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-explorer-vehicle-security-system-p-1881.html

Please let us know if you have any questions,
-Benny

So if my car currently does not have remote start, will this Ford alarm enable it or if my dealer installs it can they enable the remote start?

THANKS for any info.

If you add the VSS there is nothing for the dealer to enable. If you want to add any of the remote start systems onto the vehicle then the dealer will need to turn this option on for you.

Let me know what your requirements are and I can recommend a system for you.

Want it simple, so I can use existing pushbutton keys. Basic alarm, and adding remote start if it is not too expensive but otherwise just adding the Ford alarm. 2013 XLT with keyless entry, etc. THANK YOU.

Best bet is the OE style built into the FOB

Here is the kit for vehicles with power liftgate
https://www.levittownfordparts.com/...stem-factory-style-power-liftgate-p-1835.html

Here is the kit for vehicles without power liftgate
https://www.levittownfordparts.com/...ystem-factory-style-power-liftgate-p-307.html

And here is the VSS that adds adjustable shock sensing features with a warn away feature as well
https://www.levittownfordparts.com/ford-explorer-vehicle-security-system-p-1881.html

Dealer installation is recommended for the RS kits. I will send you a code you can use

Thanks,
Benny
