I have had that same issue for years on my 2014 Sport while driving. After about 15 seconds it all comes back as if it was just a reboot. Most often after a sudden stop or hard turn, but not always under those conditions.

Saw a 2020 Explorer ST up close on display the Motor Trend produced First Hawaiian Auto Show in Honolulu, March 27-28-29. It was a prototype and locked up so hard to see much interior detail other that pop up screen. Not a dramatic change in design for a switch back to rear wheel drive.

Driving for 20-30 miles corrects a low pressure warning after your have put air back in the tire. It does not work for lack of TPMS in your rims.

I tried through the dealer and got a similar insane markup. I thought it would include installation and balancing the tires at that price. It did not so I purchased mine online for a lot less.

About the price I paid for set of four for 2014 Sport 20 inch rims. Make sure you get the correct year for the Explorer. Earlier ones that have rims with inner band on rim are less expensive, but may not work.

For doing it yourself, you can get a TPMS control donut style magnet (Amazon) to put on the valve stem first. It cancels any preset signal so the sensor can be set.

I vote for the resister switch as I did my '93 a number of times. The spring style resistors frequently shorted out (broke) from debris collecting on them. Replacement is fairly easy with sockets and nimble fingers.

I am running 38 PSI and found it a good compromise between harder ride and better mileage.
