    Replaced Both Front Sway Links

Ordered a pair of Moog with grease zerts hopefully to remedy the popping sound we're getting. Its definitely more of a pop than a clunk. Wife was able to do it in our driveway by turning left slowly about 1/2 a full turn. I've replaced these before on my Saab with 2 thin open end wrenches/impact...

Popping, Clicking noise from front. Newer TSB

2013.... Wife tells me that when she turns into a parking space slowly, she gets a popping sound from driver side. I just had the strut mounts replaced about a month prior, as I heard these are notorious for failure. That was a clunk feel/sound when parked and moving the steering right to left...

    Headlamp plug connection

Thanks.... Didn't need to mess with those anyway turns out. Just had to use plug from bulb. Only thing I did not like on the conversion, was putting a hole in dust cap to run bulb through with grommet on other end. While that itself was ok, you have to run a separate relay wire in the hole too...

    Headlamp plug connection

Yes the one on bottom next to dust cap. I didn't feel a tab on the bottom, and seeing it is impossible. Will try again. Putting a basic 9005 HID kit in from HID Extra. These halogens are crap.

    Headlamp plug connection

Trying to figure out how to get the lower plug out in the bottom of back assembly. Top narrow one easy.... looks like 2 outside tabs need to be pried away and pull? Pretty narrow and delicate wing things. Thanks

    2nd row seatbelt issue

Black plastic insert in receiver broke which won't allow belt to click in. I removed this piece entirely. Are these sold as a separate or packaged item? I don't understand why they had to do this in the first place, as the fronts don't have this piece. Pretty fragile for something that has...

    H8 mistake

Yes Peter you are correct.... I do not have the mirror blinkers in working order as well. I removed the under dash panel cover and studied the fuse box cover removal, but I'm stumped on that. Talk about a brick of a fuse box. And lovely location as well. I got stuck trying to get out of the...

    H8 mistake

I bought a pair of headlamp and fog lamp bulbs. The 9005 work fine. I didn't realize the fogs were H8 until I went to turn fogs on to see if the one bulb would light up. It didn't..... Nor did the stock fog. Put the stock fog back in with same result. Both fogs are out. Headlamps are fine. Wife...

    H8 mistake

Ok but the manual lists 47 as fogs too. Haven't pulled the fuse to check anyway.

    H8 mistake

So I put in a pair of Hoen 9005 bulbs to replace the lousy stock bulbs. Big difference in clarity during night. Without looking at the faint print on the fog bulbs, I hooked up a H8. I ordered H11 but.....go to turn fogs on and both bulbs don't light up. Put the stock one back in, same result...

    DIY oil change part prices

66K? Damn that's good. No one sells a 04-05 they keep em. I'm wanting a white one once my steel gray is retired. Still looks good though. Don't care for the GM infused 06-up years. I'm on SC as well as 05Aero21. Keeping it to the Ford now I'll do a syn blend on it. It's all highway miles on it...

    DIY oil change part prices

I do everything on the Saab.... Changed out WP, ALT, CPS, CBV, plugs, DI, etc. I'm at 148K on it because I drive 52 mi roundtrip to work. Doing more research on the Ford oil.

    DIY oil change part prices

So I've been doing my own oil changes for many years now and always look for the best deal on oil, not so much filters. Big fan of Napa Gold filters too. This 3.5 takes 6 qts. and I buy the 5 qt jugs over the single quarts due to the huge price disparity over a total of 5 qts both ways. Am I...

    Sirius question:)

How do you preset stations to put into memory? Been playing with it and haven't figured it out. Manual vague on this. Thanks

    Slams into P

Foot on brake D to P. Not the smoothest transition into P. Kind of gets hung up going through. Seems like a heavier foot on the brake pedal helps somewhat, but not always. 27K on it. Just a trait of this particular transmission?

So what is DIY on the 3.5?

Like doing any repair/service work myself as much as possible, for saving dough and doing it right reasons. Oil change is cake, what about trans.? I don't agree with this infinite amount of miles thing on the trans fluid. I just change it for peace of mind at what I think is an average interval...

Great spot for a trans dipstick

So I got to be super quick not to burn the top of my hand on a coolant hose to pull the dipstick. Gloves will help. But what access eh? Love these engineers. Thank God I don't have to rip the bumper skin off to change the bulbs.

    Help.... Replacing headlamp bulb cover

So something that should be super easy for me, has me confounded. Expecting this to be plastic not rubber. I can't get it pressed into the groove of the housing to seal it. Tried turning as I went and just pressing. Update.... Got it.... Goes on the inside ID of the groove. Geesh!

    Wheel question

Oh I know this..... That's why you frequently have to adjust and adapt to that.

    Wheel question

Lovely..... Can't have anything nice without having fear at the same time. Of course insurance is 70.00 more a month vs last SUV.

    Wheel question

We have the 20 inch wheels. I know they are popular among thieves. I see that the Explorer comes with a locking lug which we have the key for. Are each of these keys for the locking lug specific to each vehicle, or can a key from one Explorer be used to fit the lug on another? And I do have the...

    Aftermarket mild tone mufflers

2013 XLT..... Want a little deeper tone. I've been a Flowmaster fan for a long time, and I'm looking at what series would work on the Explorer. Any other brands I'm open to. But nothing loud.... Wife's truck! Also anyone have a clear bra on the bumper cover and front of hood? Thinking about...
