I put in a transfer case and this immediately popped up.. could the transfer case motor switch have something to do with this..what could possibly have caused this..seems to run fine.The CEL actually went off for a little bit....

0741 and 0735 are the codes..Explorer shifts fine thru all of the gears.RPM is 2500 at 70 mph so I am pretty sure 5th gear works.Unfortunately there seems to be no definitive answer...the truck seems to run fine,should I just ignore the light or go back in and muddle around?

The light will also stop flashing also.I am not sure how long it stays off.but it came back on...

I have no code,but the tranny would slip going into 5th and eventually after a couple of days not go into 5th.The gaskets solved that problem.The next day though,I start the Explorer and the Blinking begins.

The tranny seems to shift fine through all gears .Light went off for a mile or two,but came back blinking again.I added tranny fluid,what could be the cause.Or with this vehicle the MANY causes..

these are the numbers off of the TC tag.what do they mean exactly.. A0982 4405-11 171636 XL24-AA. I see other '98 Explorer TCs online with longer PNs with no 4405 mentioned.Are they replacements or did 98 explorers have several different TCs.Thanks explorer forum for your wealth of knowledge.

Several local mechs have told me that is probably the problem.Put the Explorer in 4wd hit the gas and it is felt and heard.So I take em at their word..Now why is the chain doing that ,I am not %100 sure.A few reasons could be the problem.I am tempted to get a used 4405 locally and roll the...

I will getting inside the 98 Explorer transfer case,what should I buy to stop the chain popping or jumping.A regular rebuild kit or should I concentrate on getting a new chain and gears? It pops when in 4WD and when I hit the gas hard in 2WD.Can the chain be tightened.
