    2006 explorer radiator

I can related to the frustrated owners. Since I traded my 2006 V6 E.B. two years ago for my 2011 Kia Sorento EX I4 FWD, no more issues such as window motors, thermostat housings, three radiators, have plagued me. Ford knows they have problems, but since most people are near the FP plan...

    2006 explorer radiator

It has been over a year since we traded the 2006 V6 Eddie Bauer for a 2011 Sorento 4cylinder FWD. I am happy with the KIA at this point, no problems. The first year the 2006 needed a battery, 3 ABS sensors, 2 radiators, rear wiper motor, ABS/Airbag problems. The problems only got worse as...

    anyone have radiator leaks?

When you read this forum, each repair done by the dealer was between $880 -1500 dollars. If you could know the exact number of EX with the V6, multiply that by 2/3X to replace the radiator for each vehicle. That is a nice profit margin for FORD. Now, think about all the times someone trades...

    anyone have radiator leaks?

Yup, that's why I traded my 2006 EB. This was a nightmare, and I'm sure with the exterior/interior near mint, someone else is driving it now. :banghead:

Rent an Explorer or a Caravan?

We were thinking of purchasing a black one last year , and putting a coffin in the back -window decals -"Black Coffin Company". It was too much for a basic one. An ECO one was around $42,000 -!!!!!!!

Rent an Explorer or a Caravan?

As this is off the topic, I noticed that FORD is really pushing for the 2011/2012 FORD Explorer and pushing the FLEX on the back burner. All the local dealers advertise is all the FORD products except for the FLEX. Maybe the FLEX will go to the way of the EDSEL ?

Any 2006's NOT have a leaking radiator?

I had the 4.0 engine, and with gas creeping up to $3.32 gallon, glad to have a more dependable, economical SUV at this time - KIA Sorento I4 FWD. Of all the cars we owned, the 2006 V6 EB AWD was the worse - have all my old bills/repairs in a file. Ford made a killing on these...

Any 2006's NOT have a leaking radiator?

That's why I got rid of it last March 2010 -- four radiators, two thermoplastic cracks and water pump. The last straw was when the water pump was leaking from the bearing. What happened was the Ford dealer used a impact wrench to tighten down the threads on the fan - the threads where worn out...

    2006 Explorer Throttle Body/ TPS Problems/Wrench light?

Now you see why I traded my 2006 EB 4.0 in for a 2011 KIA Sorento I4 FWD. I was tired of the problems with this SUV, and FORD was not helpful, unless it was for my credit card.:) The extended warranty(approved by FORD) was worhless. I was able to get a even trade-in with the trade-in vlaue...

2006 Explorer 6 speed transmission shifting issue - update

That's why we traded it in for a 2011 Kia EX I4 2WD Sorento. I believe that they (dealer) always ask for the VIN to look it up in the FORD data bank to see the history of the vehicle. FORD offered $10,000 for the Ex when I owed $17,000 on it. The Kia was an even trade, $15,000 trade in and...

    2006 explorer radiator

If you buy one, get it thru FORD ESP. Those 3rd parties are worthless.

    2006 explorer radiator

I have happy:) and sad news.:( We traded our 2006 EB Explorer in yesterday. All the problems we had - 4 radiators, ABS sensors, rear driver's motor window, rear axle seal, dead battery after six months, water pump and thermo-fan, inoperable passenger seatbelt, occasional bump in trans, among...

    hissing noise in vacuum reservoir

Did you check the vacuum hoses ? A few years ago my upstairs bathroom sink was leaking water after running for a few minutes. I could not find a leak anywhere, but it only happened when the hot water was on. I was able to determine that the brass diverter was weeping hot water after a few...

    Window motor

Mine went out last April. The warranty company, Interstate Dealer would only give the dealer $47.00 for the "motor". The dealer said the "entire motor assembly" would need to be replaced. It cost me around $325.00.

    2006 explorer radiator

My water pump was leaking from the weep hole, so went to a local shop. They had to chisel off the therm-clutch fan assembly due to the dealer using an air chisel to "tighten" the assembly to the water pump. This part cost $311.00 along with two hours labor. The warranty company did pay the...

    2006 explorer radiator

Im on my fourth one - all were replaced by the dealer. I never asked for the part number. FORD only billed my warranty company for one time along with plastic thermo housing. I can see where it is starting to leak from the bottom of the hose attached to the plastic housing again. Debating...

    Not running right. Need help

Maybe the reset switch for the fuel tank was damaged when it was hit ?

I recieved the letter in the mail today - what about the radiator ?

    Transmission Problem (I think...)

I've always wondered is there was condensation in the tank. If you think about it, the gas we put in could have water, and if there is enough, could cause problems. When you think about running an engine below 1/4 tank, all the stuff floating above the gas would reach the fuel pump ?

    2006 explorer radiator

Maybe FORD will blame the supplier of the anti-freeze ? The the aluminum fins and plastic should not cause a electrolysis problem. The overpressurization seems to be the logical course. When you think about it, the cold antifreeze in the radiator and the hot antifreeze in the engine hitting...

    No heat on idle

Most likely the coolant is low again. As you rev the engine, the coolant moves thru the system, but at idle the water pump does not move much collant. Does the car smell like coolant inside ? That would be my guess, unless there is a head gasket problem, but it would have to be a big one for...

    06 Mountaineer steady airbag light

It is the driver or passenger ? Sometime when you place a heavy item on the passenger seat, it takes about 20 cycles to turn the light off.

    2006 explorer radiator

That looks like a pressure burst to me. Perhaps the thermostat was stuck ?

HELP 06 XLT will not fill up with gas.

Ever since my radiator was replaced(4th time), along with thermostat housing, the dealer never sent my a "quality survey" or FORD discounts on work done at the dealership. I wonder why ? They figure the 3 year factory warranty is up, and it is no longer their problem.

    2011 Explorer.

It looks like a Escape with a bad gas problem, constipation, and overeating issues !!!!!!
