It happened again, another Explorer followed me home.

The 5 speed is susceptable to dried out shift rail plugs. Check the top the tranny for signs of leakage. You can either silicone in the ones that are there, or replace them with Dorman steel plugs. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/lessons-learned-while-changing-shift-rail-plugs.20429/

    New Ford/Explorer Owner 2022 Timberline

You should be good with instructions for the XLT or ST. The valving in the struts is different, but they all mount the same.

2021 Explorer with Momentary Neutral-Out Issue - Fixed

Thanks for the info. I had not heard of this issue before. Best of luck with your repair. I hope it lasts. I suppose the TSB will only apply if the issue is present when it's brought in, and not something they will do proactively?

    Headunit update, old guy update

Looks really good Jon. Back in high school a friend had a great job working in a print shop and he was able to buy himself a new 1979 Z28. He ordered it with a stereo delete because he wanted to install a nice sound system himself. A magazine had a life size photo of the Nakamichi head unit he...

    Disable all of the ads?

Our supporting members see no ads: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/account/upgrades I have made it so that non-paying members can search and see everything on the site for free. Many sites lock up content behind "paywalls". To me that is more frustrating than the ads when trying to...

Why no Ex Love from Ford in Commercials?

I had to research this. In 2021 the Explorer was Ford's #2 seller only outsold by the F series. That covers a lot of vehicles from F150s on up. Ford F-Series Total sales, 2021: 726,003 Ford Explorer Total sales, 2021: 219,871 Ford Escape Total sales, 2021: 145,415 Ford Bronco Sport Total...

    Auto start/stop

I am constantly turning off Autostart manually. It is nearly 20 miles to the nearest grocery store, all at highway speed, so state of charge isn't an issue. I find it annoying that the engine shuts off so quickly when just making a quick stop at a stop sign and taking off again.

Stic-o Class C RV. Say hello to Sunny🌞

I would like to see pics when you have the chance. Have you done anything to the front suspension? I see a lot of people with the same unit I have, installed the Safe T Plus steering stabilizer.

Stic-o Class C RV. Say hello to Sunny🌞

Just picked up an E450 based Class C that looks very similar to yours, I suppose they all look pretty much the same. We sold the 5th wheel trailer that we barely used. I never got used to pulling that monster. Driving the Class C back home wasn't nearly as difficult for me. Time to get out for...

They claim not enough people were using it to make it worthwhile. They learn that from data sent from the vehicles back to Ford.

    Timberline 2023, Remove 2nd row

The seats just unbolt and electrical connectors need to be removed. Whether or not that is easy depends on your skills. They make swivel seat bases for vans. Adapting it to the SUV would most likely be a challenge since you have to wind up with the same seat height as you have now.

Mad Max - Galaxie Tow Rig

Not yet for Moab. The Pumpkin is on the disabled list. Needs a bunch of work before I'll feel good about taking it out again. Right now the registration is lapsed since the only place I had been driving it to each year was for emissions testing. When it came up this year I just couldn't bing...
