In order to provide just slightly more clearance under the body, I want to install a 1" body lift on my 1997 EB. (I do not want the 2" or 3" lift. I've already got a 4" Superlift and have SAS plans in the future. The 1" will help the install of my T&M doubler and / or other future drivetain mods.)

Since nobody makes such an animal, I'm thinking about buying the 2" PA kit and just cutting the blocks in half. Is there any reason this would not work, or that I should not do this - from a safety perspective? (ie. The PA lift blocks are made of "high grade reinforced nylon" - is the structural integrity somehow compromised if cut? Are they made more brittle if cut? Will they splinter like fiberglass?

Thoughts, concerns, etc.

Please don't give me BS reasons like the "you shouldn't combine suspension and body lifts" or just tell me I shouldn't do this based simply upon your opinion, without any practical / factual knowledge, etc.)

If this is not an option from a safety perspective, what do people recommend? Should I have 1" blocks machined out of billet aluminum or some other material, etc.

As always - Thanks!

in my opinion i would just go with the 2 and get an extra 1'' out of it and not show much frame. But if you want 1'' ones i beleive 4WP has them.

I keep finding threads where you say what I am thinking Boomin', so I guess I'll have second that.

Besides if you are at 6" total lift you are in the sweet spot for running 33's. So is 5", but with 6 you will be trimming less sheetmetal.

Instead of buying a kit you could just add some heavy duty washers. Check out my Custom 3/4" body lift thread. I basically used heavy duty 1/4" thick washers in stead fo dropping $$$ for a lift blocks.

Here ya go

Its probably best to buy something that is made for the situation. I beleive you need the ones for the mini truck. Just count your mounts and order as many as you need. I have heard with 1" you can use the same bolts but you will probably want to check that out first and budget for hardware if you need it.

That is the one I installed on my Ex. I would get the one for the full size truck. The mini truck blocks are only half the size of the body mounts. I had to replace only 4 bolts. The ones I took out were able to be used as longer replacements elsewere. Since it was only 1" of lift, I didn't feel the need to get any bumper relocation brackets. WhenI get a custom bumper, it won't even be noticeable.

do not make a hockey puck lift, thats jsut plain stupid....

contact roger brown @ www.4crawler.com he makes body lifts, and is very highly regarded in the toyota world

Thanks for all of the responses, pics and experience!

Don't worry, I'm definitely not doing the hockey puck lift... I'm not still preoccupied with 1985. (or earlier) :p

Since I'm doing a SAS this year, I definitely don't want 2 - 3" of body lift. SAS + 2 or 3" body lift would WAY too much. It just wouldn't look right.

All I want is 1" of clearance for some drivetrain and other mods, without having to worry about bumper relocation brackets, extending lines, etc. (More space b/w frame and body = less clearance issues for my T&M doubler install, and = easier access to the framerails for mounting my All Pro Off Road sliders.)

I contacted Roger Brown over at 4Crawler - thanks Jimabena74 - as well as the folks over a Off Road Design - they make a 1" kit for K5s. I'm going to wait to see what they say. The full-size replacement pucks from 4wheelparts are my easy fallback.

I'll keep you posted! Thanks again!

why more it.
