Can anyone tell me what the mounting depth of the factory Mach subwoofer box is? I see that the JL 8w1v3 is 3 7/8". Is that the max or do I have a little more wiggle room?

Ive searched for a while and cant find anything relevant.

That's about max, but you can put a spacer ring on.
Remember, it's not going to be 'I can be heard 3 blocks down' bass from an 8.

I understand it wont be any crazy bass. I honestly think the factory system is fine for a 99, lol.

The stock sub is starting to crackle now after a few months of heavy use. I ended up finding a nos Clarion 8" sub on ebay for $50 that has a 3 3/4" mounting depth. Should do the job just fine.

I have a pair of old school JBL GTX 8" that I was going to use, but theyre just too large and I really dont want to have to use a 1" MDF spacer if I dont have to.

The stock amp also won't have anywhere near the power..

A Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XW800F 8" shallow depth would be a direct replacement for the factory sub. It's 2-3/4" deep. I just ordered one from onlinecarstereo.com for $85 plus $11.95 shipping to Dallas.
