Well I have to say I got a little luckier than most, I got 188,000 miles on my original 5R55. I wasted my money on O-ringed servos,as all symptoms leaded to them. I then pulled the Tranny out, and had a very reputable transmission shop rebuild it, getting a 1 year warranty with unlimited miles. I now have 230,000 on my 03 EX, so that's roughly 42,000miles on the rebuild, and I am starting to get a down shift shutter when going from 5th gear into 4th gear, and a slight pump wind after the tranny warms up good. DAMN!!!!:shoot:

My 2000 XLT: 123K and 170K
My 2004 EB: 90K

Bought used w/133K, unknown service history.
1996 EB 4x4 4R55E Trans- Trans rebuilt at Approx. 134K
Driven 3K so far with no issues.

5r55s

TCC solenoid failed mechanically (bronze bushing crumbled), about 100K. Replaced module, installed in-line filter, no trouble since, now 140K. Fluid, replaced at 100K, looks good, ON MY DIPSTICK! Ha! imp

170,000 when the torque converter went, cleaned everything up inside and installed overhaul kit and VB update, reused the old frictions and bands. 58,000 miles since then, which puts it at 228,000 miles on the transmission.

The transmission shop owner I spoke with said 135,000 miles is the average failure point. YMMV

That's about what I have heard also, drdoom - 125,000K to 135,000K. What really sucks is that I have a 06 4.6 EX with 84,000K sitting in the driveway rite now with a 6R60 in it, and it has the same symptoms the 5R55 had. Needless to say it will not move.:banghead:

UPDATE: The downshift shutter I was reffering to was a fluid level issue. Such a pain in the arse to check transmission level I'm sure most people don't. So I checked the level and it was about 1QT low. Added a quart, and shutter is gone as well as the pump whind

197,000 and still going strong.

210k+ and as far as I can tell, still the original trans. Still shifts great.

Mine went at 93k miles

Gotta chime in on this thread....I got a 97 Sport SOHC with 281,000 on original trans! And this is my beater now and I pretty much beat the hell out of it. Has 3-4 flare due to pin bore wear and slow reverse engagement. 3-4 shift flare started 50,000 miles ago. I just lift off when it shifts. Gonna runner till she dies!
