Hi all and Happy New Year to you all....

Being a new owner, and loving it more each day I was wondering if there were any Explorer clubs out there in the UK, or if there are ever any meets arranged anywhere in the UK.

Its great to read about what all the guys and gals get up to over in the USA, but it does leave me a little jelious :)

If there is anything going on over here and anyboby can give me any info I would be very grateful.....

I am in Harlow in Essex if anyone is close by your welcome to get in touch!

Well by the look of it you did try to start something, have you had any more interest for this year??
Maybe another location this year for a meet with as much notice as possible.

We could even make it at another place of interest in the country for our American friends to check out the pictures of Explorers and location.

Another thought... maybe we could ask our American friends where in the UK they would like to see us meet... any suggestions?????

Another Dave from the UK in Essex? ...now it starts to get confusing :D
A meet at some time would be a good idea, there seems to be a few of us UK owners around on here now , I guess it's got to be when our weather gets a bit warmer though

Dave :uk:

Well if we start talking about it now, when the weather does get better we should all be well prepared. What we need to do is to start to get an idea of who would be interested. Lets hope that a few more people will start to notice this thread and register an interest.

I missed the last one so another get together would be good. Count me in.

Hi all,

I would be up for this, be nice to meet fellow UK X anoraks :D

Well it is nice to see there is some interest, lets hope that in the next few weeks we get more and more.
I notice at the moment that we seem to be quite close in location so far,

Looks like I hit the send button too quickly...I was saying...

I notice at the moment that we seem to be quite close in location so far... Essex, London, Cambridgeshire and Buckingham, but I am sure there will be some from further parts.
Maybe it would be an idea for one of us to have a list of Email contacts of all those interested so that we dont lose track of names. I am not sure how easy it will be to keep contact through this thread in the coming months?
We can keep this thread going for the next couple of months I would hope and by then, with luck have quite a few interested owners and we can then try to work out when and where. Thanks for the interest so far guys, lets see how this goes.

I am up for another meeting, lets get it on soon guys, I need an excuse to polish the ex up a bit!
Nice to see you chaps here- pass on the good word!

I think a meet in Cambridgeshire would be good ;)

Cambridgeshire is cool with me, but then anywhere is ok with me... if it were to be up that way I guess Thetford Forest would be a good venue??

Lets just keep the suggestions comming in.

Thetford is good, maybe we can do some off-roading :bounce:

So am I the UK's only Northern X ower? :(

As a complete newbie to Explorers and owning 4x4's in general. It would be good to meet up with some other owners to find out more about this rarest of UK off roader. I'm happy with the areas suggested.

Got to agree with one of the posts above. 6 weeks since our LPG conversion and over £300 saved.

Adie

I must look into that LPG, is it that good ?

The fuel costs per mile is now more or less the same as our Megane and better than the Rover 214 I got rid of to get the Ex.

Don't know what normal MPG is on an Ex, but currentlty getting 200 miles for no more than £20

The only minor problem is in very cold weather like now. Because the fuel is vapourised on the way into the engine, heat from the coolant system is used and it takes a while in this weather for the coolant to heat up and flow.

I don't notice any difference between running LPG or Petrol , Lpg is half the price and I average about 17.5mpg running LPG as opposed to 19mpg when it was runnig on petrol . 70 litres(16 gallons ) does me about 280 miles and costs me £25 :D But remember the initial outlay of about £1500 to £2000 for a modern Lpg conversion . ;)
