I've had alot of friends say BFG AT's are great, I've seen them last a decent while, given the driver and the usage. I like swampers, but they make waayy too much noise for me for a daily driver, IMO. I don't know about wear, if you drive reasonably (as you should with that type of tire) they probably are on par with other ultra aggresive tread tire... which swamper are you musing about specifically? IMO if you are driving it daily for any large distance, you need a set of LT/AT tires for daily usage.

I have SSRs. They are decent. I would just do some research and see what you like the best. I would look into Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips. They are extremely nice.

i like the super swamper tsl's amd the boggers, i need something real aggressive because when me and the guys go for a trip we go hardcore, ive been stuck in swampy coal reagions where im hoping for traction, i like the mud better then climbing i mean i dont get great traction with the tires i have on now, i dont drive far ways on the road very much just to school n back home and to the shooting range the only long distance i really go is philadelphia and its all highway, that why i dont know about buying boggers, i really like the bogger though, its sure to get me where i want when im off the road, let me hear what yall think, also if you could recommend a good wheel i want to go 15x10, and a 35" swamper

MT/Rs are the best offroad and onroad combination tires HANDS DOWN. awesome on rocks awesome in mud and VERY streetable. the only swamper ide get over the MT/Rs is a bogger, but thatde be on a trailer queen...

If you want the best wearing swamper I would look towards the TruXus MT, that should be my next tire going on the Explorer.

noise doesnt bother me that much, i think it sounds cool but i mean i had to deal with the noise before when the undercariage of my truck was ripped apart by a boulder so a $30 trip for gas turned into a $1600 trip but for some reason i still do it i love it, no one around here has a lifted explorer all lifted jeeps and trucks, but i wheel with lifted trucks and my stock explorer gives em a run for the money, just they wait till its lifted and has a good set of swampers on it

my tires now arnt good self cleaners i need some goos tires for self cleaning and good on the trail and a mud hole but give that aggressive look to it too

insane mudder- how close are you to pine grove, pa?

If you are interested in swampers i would go with the truxes MT's. They are good off road and wear fairly good. Boggers will wear down quicker than you can believe on road. I wouldnt even expect 20,000 miles out of them. And for the love of God, stay away from Thornturds. I got a set for free and ran them on my 04 ranger and hated them. Aweful on road and off.

even super swamper themselves labels that tire as an "all terrain tire" even though they do look pretty aggressive. regardless of what they actually are the bfg mt's are proven to be better in mud than the trxus mt's. enough reason right there to not get them. its just a heavy ass tire that works decent offroad. if u want mud performance go with a true tsl radial tire. it gets decent mileage if u take care of them... it seems yer really leaning towards a great mud tire thats good on road. the mt/r's should be out then. as it doesn't excell in mud. everything i've read points to that. not they are bad but it could be better. bfg's mt's will still beat them out. i have the bfg mt's they are absolutely great in mud and will last forever (for a mud terrain). i'd rather have a super swamper though. simply cuz it would be better in the mud than what i already have. which i plan on getting next. tsl radial probably. anyways the tsl radials are nice. not too expensive... (unless u get an oddball size then its high$$$ ) anyways they are great offroad and get decent mileage for what it is. otherwise get yourself some bfg mt's. the nitto mud grapplers look awesome and are extremely aggressive looking but i know nothing about them. all i know is short of a tsl swamper nothing listed will beat out a bfg mt (atleast in the mud). which means if u don't go with a swamper the bfg's should be pretty darn high on your list.

im not to far from pine grove, my friend goes up there to buy guns and ive been up there a few times, after i lift my explorer im gonna be back on the trails going harder then ever before

i hear the radial is good in the mud but on wet pavment stinks, i hear they slide around and stopping is hard on wet pavment too. is that true or is that just garbage

What kind of mods do you have to your truck? You ARE NOT going to want boggers if you ever drive it on the street....speaking from experience you will be lucky to get 10K miles out of a set....not worth it. MTRs arent your best bet either as they are awful in the mud that we have here on the east coast (speaking from experience as well). Sounds like you would be best off with a set of just plain old mud terrain tires. You could also check out BFG ATs as they are great on the road and wont let you down offroad either. I love mine, but i never go in mud anymore as i HATE it....so i dont need to worry about the mud performance of a tire. Look at BFG MTs, Pro Comp MTs, or some of the other offbrand muds. Super Swampers and mileage should never be used in the same sentence.

I got about 7000 miles on my 35" boggers with a spool. As you would figure the rears wore down quicker thn the fronts. I say if you can afford to spend a grand on tires every 7-10,000 miles, the Boggers are the way to go for the look, sound and performance off road.

i dont even think they are THAT great offroad...yes they are unstoppable in the mud and straight on throttle blasts up hills, but the sidehill SUCKS on them. They are a great tire, dont get me wrong, they just need a little cutting to help with sideway traction. However, i would NOT run them on a rig that sees street time. They sound like an airplane prop and they wear like warm butter. (they do look badass though ;) )

what about the swamper ltb instead of running a 35 maybe ill run a 33

I would just get a regular MT, Super Swampers are called swampers for a reason.

Mud Terrains will look good, they really make the truck look agressive, much more than any all terrain does. You can also probly get about 25 thousand out of most MT's and they sound just fine.

LTB will wear about as fast as a Bogger almost. They are Bias Ply = sucks on the road. Just get some MTs or ATs and be done.

i have some TrXus Mt's I've had them on for about 5K and show almost no wear and they are awesome in the snow and mud, they are pretty quiet for a MT. I only notice noise when i'm go'n around corners at higher speed (highway on ramps) and you can feel the lugs at >5mph when you stop quick. They are a really heavy tire, i think mine are either 6 or 8 ply....find a good place to balance them and rotate them every other oil change and they'll be fine.
