What would most likely cause oil pressure to rise slowly over time? I have a 93 that had it's last oil/filter change not that long ago, but it is nearing another. Could it be a build up of goo in the filter?
And lastly, does anyone know the actual PSI difference as indicated by the guage?, it used to be steady at the low point of the R of the arched "NORMAL" printed behind the needle and now it hovers between the M/A and I don't know how much of a real difference it is. I suppose it should be just fine since it's still in range but it has been bugging me for a few months now and I can't stop thinking about it; that's why I'm up at 0106 hrs asking you guys. Help put my mind to rest would ya?:D

Oil pressure will vary under several conditions such as oil viscosity, temperature, RPMs, etc. What kind of oil, and filter do you use? You should use a lower viscosity in the winter so that it would be easier for the oil to circulate. Mobile 1 makes a 0-40 synthetic. The engine sounds louder with a thinner grade of oil. It also helps for better gas mileage. Your engine might need a flush if you have a lot of deposits inside of it. Your oil sending unit might not be accurate, so it would be better to test your pressure with an oil gauge screwed into the oil sending port.

Oil pressure guage in the first gen is only a warning light that appears to be a guage. If the needle moves it could be a wire connection or a charging issue.

I'm not sure of what kind of filter is in there but the oil is 10-30, generic, I had a few bottles of it in the garage from who knows where (maybe walmart)and I have been putting in a quart every time the CHECK OIL light comes on which happens about every other month. It's kinda like a continuous oil change...right?!
So Sparky, how is it that the "guage" in question is not a functioning insturment but rather a fancy dummy?

It's time to do a full oil change anyways to get the sludge out and I'll be doing the filter too. Where is the fuel filter at, along the lines or under the hood? I should probably change out the pcv valve at the same time along with any other things you could mention to me.

Here is the short list of my planned replacements/updates:
Oil & Filter
PCV valve
Fuel filter
Plugs & Wires
Does it have a cabin filter, is so where?

What am I leaving out? I feel as though I am missing something...not the Air filter though, it's K&N.
