Ok now that i have a manual tranny i have to figure out how to get three feet. then i got to thinking and looking at the bike in the shed..and well i am going for it..

and then i realized that i didn't pa my subscription dues.. so i will be linking from car domain

first off i tested the brake lever. a little oversize and didn't like it.

next i tried out the shifter for the rear - cause it had 6 settings on it the front one only had 3 (off and 18 speed i guess).

sorry for the poor pic it got dark out. I decided to leave it on and driver around a few days to see how i like it.

Next back to the bike for more parts. Used a drill and got me a piece to go here.

its mount to the side of there and doesn't move. I was testing movement when i took the pic so thats why there's a wire in there.

now i have to figure out the mounting to the cable i still have a couple of peices from the bike that should work. the wire clamps from the brakes. After that its off to the bike store for a new shifter and a cable.

tell me what you think.

next a better pic of the shift. right now the parts that make it stick are soaking in solvent so it moves freely right now tomorrow i'll reassemble it to make work right.

if you want anymore pics let me know..

total cost of this =

1 bike for parts = free
1 new shifter cable = 1.97 (no tax bought it at the post exchange)
1 shift handle i didn't use = 7.42

= 9.39 so under ten bucks. would have been cheaper if i didn't drop and step on the new shift handle.

the hard part. drilling a hole in my throttle body linkage.. i measured mark remeasured and marked for about 20 minutes.. worth it tho.

my only duh.. not taking into account the cruise control and having to mod that with a soldering iron. ( just massaged a little bit of plastic)

later.

oh and yes i know my engine is dirty
