When you clear the codes with a code reader, does it reset all the other values like disconnecting the battery does?

After changing the o2 sensor in the Explorer, I need to CEL to clear, but I have to smog it tomorrow so I can't do the hard reset. Otherwise I'll have to drive it again. Expired tags and no front right shock (or hoop). :(

If you clear the codes, you will get a P1000 meaning that all of the OBDII monitors have not completed since the last reset. Inspectors will usually fail you for a P1000 because it shows that you may have just reset the PCM to avoid showing a CEL or DTC. It takes some drive time to complete the monitors and clear the P1000.

Bummer! Oh well. Guess I'll do it in the morning and try to put some miles on it before the test.

She passed... with no-so-flying-colors. But at least its done. :p: Thanks for the help, rwenzing!
