Where is the door switch located that operates the running board lights and interior dome light, when you open and close the driver's door please. Thanks.

It's inside the door right by the latch. If I recall it's held on by one phillips head screw. All of the doors and the lift window have one. The hatch has 2.

Is it inside the door or part of the lock? Because I'm unable to see anything that even resembles a switch, on the "outside" edge of the door.

inside the door itself.

some people have had success with spraying wd-40 in the slits under the handle but i wouldn't put too much

Thanks. I've done a bit more digging around and discovered that the outside handle is very flappy (no resistance) when the door is open so, I suspect I have something that's come adrift inside the door. Will explore further this evening.

Also got the WNWOTBH (wiper not working on the back hatch) syndrome so suspect I have a similar switch problem there too.

Thanks all the help.

As long as all the fuses are good then this should help...

I know that the switch you're asking about for the lights is for sure inside the door. You have to take the inner door panel off to access it. I had the same problem on my 96 and the switch was actually broken. (by the way it doesn't look like a switch, it's just connected straight to the latch in the rear bottom of the door. My cheap fix was to clean it and carefully super glue it back on. It has been working fine now for 5 years.
The loose handle you're talking about is just the return springs to keep the handle tight against the door so it doesn't rattle. That's nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't bother you and it's most likely unrelated to your other problems.
Also the rear wiper not working is probably not part of the dome light problem.

Yeah i have the rear wiper not working either it started to do the if im lucky it would go on last year but no luck anymore, gotta check the switch. The door handle on my truck is loose when the door is open too but not too loose to shake the springs keep it in just enough to keep it tight...

Ok that makes alot of sense but i have one question about that if the wiper dosent work and the door ajar light isnt on all the time (mines not) then can the switch be the problem i will try to do the unplug thing and see if the wipers work when i get the chance to...thanks...i dont mean to ask questions on barneyhyphens thread but he asked the same question so i guess it would benefit us both..

Thanks all the answers and input. I'll get this all sorted this weekend.

Thank you for all the input. I'll be dealing with both issues this weekend.
