The following pic is from my '97 explorer SOHC 4WD with limited slip 3.73 (D4 axle code). I'm thinking about reuilding the clutches. Are these "short ear" plates?
For future reference, those are the modern short ears.
The plate next to my side gears was worn to metal. The others looked pretty good. New clutch pack is going in. I plan to stack them with a steel first to get more contact surface area on the first friction plate and hopefully extend the life.
