2002 Explorer Sport Trac
I'll keep this issue short and sweet. My 2002 Sport Trac started to idle at around 3000rpm in Park and Neutral a few days ago. I tried repalcing the IAC Valve to no avail. I cleaned the carburetor and checked the hoses and found no issues. I'm a little stumped and looking for some advice as to what might be wrong with my truck. Thank you in advance.

I've added a short video displaying my issue. Thanks!

No codes whatsoever. Everything is in the green. That's what has me scratching my head.

isnt it throttle by wire? i had that problem with my 04 corolla. try taking the throttle motor off and see if it drops back down.

The issue only exists when the connection to the AIC is connected. When it's off, the truck idles perfectly.

1. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if that has any effect.
2. You cleaned the "carburetor" throttle body with what? Before or after the high idle issue? You clean/re-oil that air filter before the issue?
3. Being the vehicle it is, have you checked the PCV valve for sticking open and the front elbow for cracks on the bottom side? (vacuum leaks will usually throw a lean code though)
4. Have you checked the throttle position sensor for good connection?
5. Occasionally new parts are defective. (though I doubt it in this case.)

Unrelated.........why is your air bag light on?
