I'm looking to put the biggest M/T's I can fit on my stock 2005 Explorer XLT 4.0

I'm thinking 265-70's will be the biggest I can go without trimming.

Anyone have any pictures or brand suggestions so I can get a good idea of how it will look?

im running 255/75-17s with a btf lift and i still rub a little at full lock ... and the 255s are about 1/2 inch narrower than the 265s

I run Goodyear Wrangler M/TR's at 265/75R16

It's wild how those Goodyears look identical to my half the price Treadwrights...
Here is my 05 with 265/75-16 plus a $40 1.5"body lift... Only rubs at full lock and is minor

Will, way to be a nice guy, but I bet what you think I paid for my tires is way off. If you shop around you can find good deals... I just happened to find a shop looking to get rid of them to have the space. Otherwise I would never have considered them. And your tire was designed to look like mine, kinda why it looks similar.

This is exactly what I'm looking to do. Is this with a 1.5'' lift or just straight stock? Thanks for the help guys.

looks stock imo

Just mounted.....

....LT265/70R17 Dura Tracs on my stock 03' XLT. These are the biggest tires you can put on a stock 17 x 7 Explorer rim without rubbing or trimming the fenders. Overall diameter is 31.7". I think I would like to get some wider rims. Probably get some 17 x 8.5 's with a -12 offset to bring them out a little past the fenders.....

Skip01, most other threads I've read state that 265 is the biggest I can go on the stock setup. Are the 285/75/16 tires still working out? Any issues? Thanks.

They did while i had em.....I now have 265/70s.....and ride a lot better and can full tilt turn no rub

I think it depends on tire , some are a lil different and might rub a bit more than i had

I'm running 265/75 16 with btf lift and I rub at lock. I'm going to 235/85 16 Saturday. 1/10th an inch larger in diameter and 1.20 inches narrower. I'm looking for no rub and better snow traction. Not worried about the tall narrow look because I am going to swap out aftermarket wheels and 33" tires with a b/l for summer months.

I was running 255/70 17 on my 2005 limited. I have since taken off the truck if anyone is interested in the wheels with tires, they are in central florida.....Bridgestone HT Duelers. No rubbing on stock height. Hunter balanced and ready to put on.
