05 Explorer front speaker depth?

I've tried the search feature but didn't have much luck, and I don't have the truck here to take measurements. I'm planning an install for my 05 Limited and the depth is going to be the deciding factor in what I run. I have a few pairs of mids on hand, deepest one is a set of Silver Flute 8" which are a bit over 3" deep.

I actually got the truck back home and took measurements. The window track limits the depth to under 3" if measured flush with the inner door structure. With a spacer I can go maybe 3.25" and not have interference with the factory grill. That said 8" aren't going to fit. The back side of the trim panel has too much in the way and I don't mind trimming metal but if I can't fit them behind the stock grills I'd rather go a different route.

No way an 8 inch will fit in the door. Kick panel, maybe.. with a bunch of custom fab.
Either way, putting an 8 in the door will not sound good.
