1994 ranger v8 conversion

Hey everyone just recieved a 1994 ranger with a trashed 4.0 in it. Looking into possibly swapping out the 4.0 for a 5.0. Everywhere I have read as far as the conversion goes the stock transmission transmission is supposedly to weak to handle the 5.0. Is this true because I want to beef up the motor a little bit before I install it? If it is to weak the what would be the most economical donor vehicle to swap out a fuel injected 5.0 and transmission?

Any trans that came behind a 4.0 isn't going to mate up to a 5.0.
Your best bet would be to pull an engine/trans combo from an explorer or Mustang.
