Hello,
I am rebuilding the engine in my 1998 explorer 4.0 OHV and have a few questions. I took the engine out and stripped the heads off and sent the block off to be rebuilt (Blown heads/ bore damage). They stripped the rest of the engine, cleaned and rebuilt. now i have a beautiful clean block and parts and a large box of parts lol.
1. The oil pump shaft has a pointed end on one end and a flat end on the other with a keeper in the middle. Which end goes to the cam synchronizer and which end to the pump?
2. i took pictures of the cam synchronizer before i took it out with the 1st cylinder at tdc of the compression stroke or so i thought (no heads and timing cover was on) now i cant find my damn tool so i believe picture is no good. How can you put this in right with out the tool?
Thanks,
Jason
