2002 OBD scanner location???

Service engine soon light is on, I have a scanner, am clueless where to connect it. Help!

Yup, right under driver side dash. Look's like this:

Federal industry guidelines require that it be within 3 feet of the driver so it can be connected from the driver's seat. Most fords have them along the bottom edge of the dash on the driver's side.

our 96 has a cover plate just to the left and down a few inches of the steering column

If you look up underneath the dash on the driver's side, it will be staring you in the face!
