2003 Explorer Limited Seat Adjustment

My electric seat won't go up or down. Works fine otherwise. I'm told a gear is out. Dealer want's $1k to fix it. The car isn't worth that much....

Is there an easy way to fix this seat problem?

No. You have to do actual work to repair it.
I would head straight to the junk yard and unbolt a seat. About 17mm and 18mm if I remember correctly. Disassemble until you get to the parts you need, and pay at the exit. It's up to you whether to buy a gear, an undercarriage, or the whole seat.

Agree with above post. I've had good luck with local 'pull a parts' and some have it where you can check vehicle inventory online or just call before you make the drive.

Have also seen complete seats on eBay and Craigslist
