2004 Exp 4.0L Theromostat

Working on a friends 2004 Exp 4.0L and need to replace the theromstat for her. Not very familiar with this model so any help, pic location would be helpful of where exactly it is and anything else I need to do. I am mechanically able just not a full blown auto mech. She says the temp qauge would go up and down, was overheating then quit on her. Checked for codes but none pulled up. Thanks

the thermostat housing is loacted on the front of the engine in the middle (there will ne a housing running from it to the radiator.) There are 3 bolts that hold the cover on. Just drain some coolant and remove the hose and cover. Took me about 15 mins to replace.
