Hi,
A friend of my wife's brought her 2004 Explorer to me to diagnose an HVAC noise, a clicking sound about once/second or a little quicker. I'm a good shadetree mechanic but haven't taken an Explorer apart yet.
The three HVAC controls are (left to right) Fan Speed, Temp, and selector for where the air goes.
The clicking only happens when the temp control is full cold or full warm. Mid-scale it's quiet, and air comes out at the right temperature and the right vents.
Any guidance on this? Symptoms don't seem to add up to other threads I've read.
Blend door? Actuator? These seem to be common failure points.
Thanks,
Ron
