- 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer
Hello, I'm a bit new to this forum and the Ford Explorers in general. I am coming from owning three Crown Victorias each of a different year (2000, 2003, 2011), so I'm a bit familiar with the Ford 4.6L. I recently purchased a non-running 2004 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.6L v8 that has immaculate interior and exterior conditions. I'm sure it needs a new engine as something has struck and punctured the oil pan from the inside. I'm basically looking to gather information on whether swapping, rebuilding or a new engine would be best. What vehicles could even be used to take a suitable donor engine out of? Is it possible to throw a 4.0 in, as they seem to be more common than the 4.6? Any information or advice on what to do would be very much appreciated.
