2004 Speaker Covers

Looking to upgrade all 4 speakers in the Explorer and need to know how to remove the covers. Are they seperate from the door panel? Do they just pry off? Also, it looks like 5x7 speakers fit, is that the right size??

You need to remove the entire door panel not just the covers. Use this link (page 3) to help...it's very very easy. I believe 5x7/6x8 should work just fine.

Looks like my rear right speaker is bust. Can I fit aftermarket speakers (5x7 as you guys pointed out) and keep EVERYTHING else stock?

Well why is that panel there then....your telling me that to chenge my speaker, I have to remove the whole door panel and not that plastic piece that looks like you could remove it? am I pulling and tugging on that for nothing?

You could have looked here at the forum prior to starting pulling and tugging and you'd be enjoying your speakers by now
