2006 Explorer Keyless Entry Code

Interesting that the numbers above do not list a Zero, my code has one.

Interesting that the numbers above do not list a Zero, my code has one.

If you look...there are no even numbers at all... no need for them since they share a spot with the odds... so if the pattern gets you 33135... it could be 43246... same thing...

OR.....when you're bored one night, try using the following text I put together. I know the first two lines are a bit shorter, but that's OK.

Just lock the vehicle, then type in the numbers one row at a time, unlock and lock the vehicle after EACH line to make sure the system doesn't lock up on you. Took me about 30 minutes, and my code was about 2/3rds down the list.

I used your chart on my 2010 Explorer and it worked. The instructions are not quite clear though. I blocked the rows off into columns of 5 which does not work. Ifinally hit it on about the 8th line by accident.

2006 Explorer Xlt V8 - 2006 Ford Explorer Key Less Code Location

Thanks
for explorer 2006 XLT V8 its on back of fuse box

so the keyless entry ie the keypad is not programmable? I cannot change the code?

You can program up to three personel entry codes, if you know the factory code. It's described in the user manual.

Thank You - much appreciated.

HEADS UP!!

Just a side note for anyone who is wondering. I have an early build 06 and my keypad code is not on that list. It is however exactly where the pictures show. Thank you a million. I feel like I just got a new toy and all I want to do is lock and unlock the car haha. WOOOT WOOOT!:salute:

Where did you get those codes, because mine is not in that list. (59797)

Your code IS on the list. ;)
There are empty spaces between the numbers.

14956178wc.png

The list contains all possible "master codes".
Your master code is 5 9 7 9 7, but your car can also be opened with 6 0 8 0 8 without programming any "personal code", because the button combination is the same. You can also program "personal codes" that you will not find on the list. But the "factory code" will always work, even you have programed "personal codes".
So it can be that you don't find your "personal code" on the list, but you will always find your "master code" there.

New member here. Just registered. And did so because I bought a used 2006 Ford Explorer 2 weeks ago. This is my 2nd Explorer; first was a 1991.

I am in the same boat as many new Explorer owners that don't have the keyless entry code.

So far, I have followed the instructions for trying to get the code off the back of the JCB. I think it is located exactly where it is described above. I actually feel the printed numbers with my finger and a cell camcera can show enough that something is there. However, I cannot get the position for a clear picture. Either a mirror is next, or, trying the random number entries as indicated above.

Admittedly, when I first saw the random number approach... I thought BS. Glad to see others followed-up and supported teh approach. I'm thinking of heading out now and pulling up a stool to give it a try.

That sucked. I got down to row 10 and observed that there was a definite wear pattern by the numbers, and the 6/7 and 8/9 definitely did not appear to be used at all. Therefore, I came back inside and highlighted all the patterns that DID NOT have a 7 or 9. Was not that difficult.

Then I went back outside with a smaller set of numbers. Result... none worked. Darn it. So I made a trip to OSH and picked upa small telescoping mirror. That did the trick as I was then able to observe the code behind the JCB.

And what did you know, 3 of the 5 numbers included a 6/7 or 8/9. So, it goes to show you that people have different tendencies when pressing buttons, or, my previous owner had an additional code in use. And, I think that was it.... an additional code is programmed in.

As confirmation, each button has 2 numbers on it. However, there is only one point beneath the button. A 1 is also a 2. A 3 is also a 4. A 5 is also a 6. Etc.

Code

I am glad that you found it by using a mirror. I don't know what the hell Ford was thinking when they put these numbers all over the place? You would think that this problem appeared early on and would have been addressed early on?

In my case, the chart worked perfectly once I started using it right ie; inputting the first 5 numbers 1-5 then the next sequence 2-6 then 3-7 etc.

I also have a Corvette and when I lost the security code for the radio due to a bad battery, all I had to do was contact GM.

I just found my master code on the second row passenger side seat belt at the bottom of the belt near the retaining bolt. I have a 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition

Possible Solution

Just bought a 06 Explorer, no keyless entry code in glove box. Bought SUV used form a non Ford dealer, so no help there. Any idea where the code is on this 2006.

Hi! I also bought a used 06 Explorer from a non-Ford dealer. However, locating my code was quite easy. Sometimes its as simple as looking at the back page of the manual. The previous owners of my Explorer actually wrote the factory code and their personal code on the last page in the manual--this could have been done so they would remember it or for any future buyers since they decided to sell it. I did everything to find this code. I looked at the fuse box, searched for the computer module, and even THOUGHT about removing the back passenger side panel on the second row. This may not be a solution, but you never know what someone may have written down in the manual. :)

Keyless Entry

I found my code on this sheet as well!!
Thanks for taking the time to type all of that out, it will save a lot of people a lot of time using that!!
Thanks again

Found my code on the SJB as well. Pain in the ass to get the mirror in there but there is was.

Awesome! Found my code in the first 1/3 of the list and took me maybe 10 minutes and that was looking at an iPad and accidentally doing a few lines twice.

Great Thread!!
