Looking at a 2007 Mountaineer. It has 2 wheel drive V8 6 sp trans. Any real problems with this setup. V8 as good as the old 5.0 V8 they put in the 97's. What about the 6 sp trans are they a good unit for the long haul our are they prone to problems? thanks for all your input.
I have 06 v8, 130k miles, tranny still strong, engine as well. 2006-07 v8 have spark plug issues, so read some more here, although depending on the built date of yours, you may not have the issue. The 3v 4.6 is much more sophistcated, and complex machine, the old 5.0 was a dream to work and mod with the aftermarket support and knowledge everywhere. I had it in my 99 Mounty.
I have had mine since new 07 4.6 also... No real problems with the motor but tranny I had to have serviced once. It's all electronics and just needed a tuning. Right now I am getting ready to take in for the electric fan spinning at high speeds when accelerating from a stop. Everything else was pretty routine!
