Ok, I spent the day at work searching for this on the Forums and I could not find this particular issue.
I had the "shift motor issue" and pulled the thing, cleaned it up, and finally got it to work....mostly.
When you push the 4x4 button is goes into 4 Hi no problem, but is "touchy" about 4 Lo. If it doesn't go in right away, moving the truck a few feet and then returning to neutral allows the 4 Lo to work.
When going back to 2WD, the 4 lo disengages, and the 4 Hi disengages, but the 4x4 Light stays lit. You can't get the 4x4 to engage again without restarting the car.
This looks like a shift motor "timing" issue. (I did make a witness mark on the case cover and re-installed it with that mark lined up!) Should I move the case cover to "time" the gear better? Which direction should I move it?
Anybody else have a similiar problem?
Thanks for all the help.
