Hello all,
1998 XLT 5.0L. 300K miles. Just starting to leak a little xmission fluid, burning about 1 quart of oil every 3-4 weeks. and the coolant is looking a little murky. SO I am thinking its time (or beyond) to rebuild the engine and transmission.
So do I just remove and replace? Or remove and rebuild? If I replace, where do I get a new or rebuilt engine? I see a bunch of signs in Maryland for Jasper engines. ##################.com has a Edelbrock for $10K (seem too much for my budget)..... Dont know where to go.
Also I am just looking to go for a stock replacement. maybe better fuel economy but I'm not looking for 1000 HP or all sorts of upgrades. I figured this got me 300K, I'd like the next one to be just as rugged.
Thoughts? Advice?
