94 Explorer O2 Sensors

Hello All. I have performed some searches on this and other websites and cannot find the definative answer to this question. My Haynes manual is of no help either. How many oxygen sensors are there on my 1994 Explorer Sport and where are they located? I have heard as many 3 sensors and as few as 1 sensor.

You've go two.

one on each side of the "y" pipe

thats correct.
There are two total on the 94, both of them located on the Y pipe, just after the exhaust manifold.

You have to also reach the plugs for both sensors, I have found there are two ways to get to them for unhooking and for plugging the new sensors back in.
One way is to get up on top of the engine and reach your arm around the back of the upper intake manifold.
Also you can go through the passenger side fender well and reach the clips.

Be patient and dont let the wires hang or they can melt on the exhaust.
