To get at the brake pads, do the caliper slide bolts need to be removed, or can the entire caliper bracket assembly be removed (by unscrewing the caliper anchor plate bolts)?

I saw that the caliper is bolted onto a plate and that plate is bolted on to the main wheel assembly.

If it matters this is a awd v8.

Thanks

The whole caliper will come off and doesn't need to be diassembled. But I would pull the slide pins anyway and make sure they have enough grease on them.

You need only to unbolt the caliper from the bracket (aka saddle).

Anyone got a picture of the Slide Pins? I get confuse what those are. Also, somebody suggested checking the spring on the brakes so they aren't loose. I don't remember seeing the springs when I changed my brake pads. Where are they suppose to be located?
