97 V8 Intake/Vac Leak

MY 100k Explorer coughed the other day upon startup and began idleing very roughly- upon inspection under the hood, i heard an intake leak. Further inspection revealed a vacum hose fitting under the intake (on the bottom and almost impossible to see) that was open. I could not find a displaced hose, so i plugged it. This has solved the problem, but now the CEL is on. Any info appreciated.

Hard to say on your description.... a backfire can pop off vaccuum hoss... the usual thing is for it to pop a cap off the "octopus" a multi headed port on the back of the engine, driver's side. I cannot tell for sure what you have, may be an EGR vacuum supply hose though. Get the code read and let us know.
