A/C and Heat Clicking sound

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and when I'm running the AC or the heat there is a clicking sound under the hood that goes off about every 10 seconds. It sounds like it could be disengaging and then engaging but I'm not 100 percent sure what's causing the sound. Do you guys know what causes this?

Sounds like your compressor is turning on and off too fast which would indicate low freon and a leak in the system.

Mine does the same thing. I recharged the ac and wasn't concerned after that but should we be?

In reality you can't just add a can of freon and call it good, even with with a gauge that goes to the low pressure side. Best way to check and fill the system is get a manifold gauge that measures both the low/high sides to make sure they're within specs. You can rent them at AutoZone or O'Reillys.
