advice on tire wear, and need for SHOCKS??

My '96 Eddie Bauer 5.0 AWD has a noisy tire, I recently had it rotated to front, and started REALLY noticing the thump-thump-thump....these are Goodyear Wrangler, OEM size tires....2nd set since new, with 90k on the truck. You can see, regular, "bumps" on the tire, all the way around it.... Discount Tire claims that the tire is wearing unevenly due to the suspension, either springs or shocks.....does that sound possible/reasonable??? Any advice on brands of shocks?? I don't do any off-roading, to speak of, just want good highway ride, mainly.

It is possible that if your shocks are old they are causing uneven tire wear. Gabriel VST shocks are a great choice for budget replacement shocks.

But I'd still have your alignment and tire balancing checked.
