My '03 XLT has the automatic headlight system, my '06 XLT does not. I want to add it to the '06. Will the system that is available from the dealer for the 2005 work in the 2006? What is the best approach to making this addition?

The switch for the automatic headlights simply has another position, to the left of the off position is automatic. So you will need a switch and a light sensor, not sure about anything else.

I thought the auto headlights were a standard feature my 06 xlt has it.

I believe that it is a standard feature. My 07 EB has it and my friends 06 XLT has it as well.

Automatic headlights is part of the Convenience Group which is optional on the XLT, standard on the EB and limited models.

Convenience Group: Auto-dimming electrochromic rearview mirror, automatic headlamps, keyless entry keypad and message center with compass
