balancer question

trying to convert my mustang to dis ignition.my question is can the toothed wheel on the 5.0 explorers be removed?
i have a 347 stroker that requires a 28 oz balancer and was wondering if the wheel could be removed so i could try to adapt it to another balancer. thanks for any help!!!

To the best of my knowledge, the toothed wheel is for the crank position sensor.

you are right,but my question is: is it pressed onto the balancer or is it made into the balancer. i need to adapt one from an explorer balancer(50 oz) to another balancer(28 oz)
