Anyone know how the battery tray comes out, I've tugged and pulled and it won't budge. Thanks for the help guys.

Just a thought, but did you remove the retaining bolts? You don't state what year explorer you have, but according to a service manual, 94 and earlier models have 4 bolts (2 lower, 2 upper) and 95 and later models have 3 bolts(2 lower, 1 upper). Hope this helps.

The battery tray is spot welded to the rad support and the inner fender. The only way to remove it is to drill or grind out these spot welds. If you look on the passenger's side in this picture you can make out the battery tray. It is being held up by a small piece of 2x4(resting on frame). There is no "easy" way to remove it.
