blower motor switch

'95 Explorer - blower motor only runs when switch is in #4 position - how do I confirm that the switch is bad or the resistor - would speed 4 work if the relay was bad - help, it is starting to get cold here and would like to have all four fan speeds

The resistor is bad if the fan only runs on the highest setting.
